As many students do, I came to the Career Center in crisis mode. However, each time I met with Anita, my perspective on career development changed.
Rather than focusing on which opportunities to apply to, Anita helped me reflect on my experiences. Through this process, I identified the culture I value in the workplace and learned to translate my experiences into marketable skills. This helped me identify internships and jobs where I clicked with the team as well as could improve on my weaknesses and leverage my strengths to make an impact.
Consequently, in 2013, I interned at CNN in Atlanta. In addition, after graduation, I became a Venture for America Fellow working at a startup called Dinner Lab in New Orleans.
Through our sessions at the career center, long email threads, and chats over coffee, Anita became more than my career counselor, but my friend. Thank you Anita!
